Woven Maison Fauve Malibu Polo

Last year, I made two versions of the Maison Fauve Malibu Polo using some pointelle knit fabric which had been in my stash forever. The polo shirts got lots of wear last summer and I thought it would be good to actually follow the recommended fabric instructions and try the pattern in a woven fabric.

My mom treated me to this fabric at last year’s Festival of Quilts. I made the sleeveless version of the pattern, and it used less than one metre of fabric in a size 38. I found some perfect buttons to pair with the fabric in my stash, yellow floral cereamic buttons from Whim Wham Buttons, who I think are sadly no longer trading.

Unsurprisingly, the pattern works even better in a woven (as recommended) and I think this little top will get loads of wear this spring and summer. I’ve been restricting myself to one fabric at any sewing shows and events I attend, in order to keep my stash contained, so I’m glad to have sewn this fabric up before the Festival of Quilts comes around again in a couple of months.

These pictures were taken in Athens in the Panathenaic Stadium, an ancient marble stadium which was the venue for the first modern Olympic Games.
