Clove Vest Update & Crew Neck Option

I released the Clove Vest pattern last year and after getting loads of wear out of my versions, I decided I also wanted to make some Cloves with a round neckline (instead of the pattern’s deep v-neck). Rather than just hack the pattern for myself, I thought I might as well make it an official update, as the crew neck option makes the pattern a much easier and faster project to sew, as well as it being a useful wardrobe staple.

The PDF pattern now includes two neckline options: the original wide neckband ending in a v-neck, and the new crew neck addition, which is achieved with a facing. The pattern also includes two length options: a longer length, ending level with the hips, and a cropped length, ending above the hips and perfect for pairing with high waisted trousers or skirts.

For those who have previously sewn Clove, the updated pattern also includes two small changes: 1) correcting a labelling error on the D-Cup pattern pieces, and 2) the ease in the B-Cup bodice is reduced by 1cm through the bust, waist and hips.

If you have previously purchased Clove direct from me, you should have received an email with the updated pattern files. If you purchased the pattern from elsewhere, email me (charlotte@charlotteemmapatterns.com) with proof of purchase and I’ll share the updated files.

Sewing the original v-neckline is the only intermediate/advanced construction step in the pattern (I filmed a short tutorial to make it easier), so the new neckline option makes Clove an even more suitable project for beginners – as well as a quick project for more experienced sewers.

These photos were taken at the Christian Dior museum in Granville on holiday during 2022. I’ll share additional photo of the Clove crew neckline soon.
