I finished a new angel for the top of our Christmas tree on the 03rd of January.
I knew I wanted to make a new angel this year, but with one thing and another it took me a while to get around to making him.
He’s roughly based on two images of angels I photographed in Nice and Hamburg – his outfit is based on the first image, and his wings on the second.
I’m not 100% happy with his features, but I love his suit of armour. His chain mail is made using an unusual knit fabric from my stash which I haven’t found the right pattern pairing for yet, and his cape in some leftover fabric from a dress. His armour and wings are in a shiny stretch craft fabric and he has a little foam crown.
He only had a short stay on the tree this year, but at least he’s ready for next Christmas and I’ll probably hang him on the wall until then, instead of hiding him away in the loft inside the box of Christmas decorations.
