Made in the Middle

Last Tuesday me and Phil went to the MAC after work for a valentine’s day screening of Brief Encounter. Prior to the film we visited the Made in the Middle craft exhibition which is currently located at the MAC prior to going on tour. Going to a craft exhibition after work isn’t Phil’s first choice

Printed Blue Jay

I carved a couple of small images in lino on Thursday evening. I carved them sat on the sofa in the living room while watching TV which probably isn’t ideal! I was a bit more careful when I printed them at least. The first image is of a blue jay, a bird which is native

Tatsumi and Great Silent Films

On Monday we went to see the film Tatsumi based on Yoshihiro Tatsumi’s memoir A Drifting Life and five of his short stories. This is the fabulous poster for the film (here in postcard format): The animation style of the film is beautiful and very close to Tatsumi’s original manga. If you’re not familiar with Tatsumi’s manga (or

Here are a couple of  my favourites: Hua Yang De Nian Hua,

Good Fortune (福) in Linocut

I attended a linocut printing workshop at the Barber Institue today (there was an old fashioned gender divide in our house as I did some chores and went to a craft workshop, while Phil went into Liverpool to watch football!). This is the second printing workshop I’ve attended at the Barber. They’re more relaxed than other workshops
