For the last few years, I’ve asked for the yarn for specific knitting projects from my mom and from Phil for Christmas. Last Christmas, I received yarn for three projects (a neckerchief, socks and this cardigan) and, unlike some previous years, I’ve successfully knit all three projects during this year. That’s good news for my stash, which I’m aiming to keep to just leftovers and the yarn for in-progress projects. I’m not quite there yet, but not too far of.
This is the Antanilla Cardigan by Esti Juango, one the designs curated by Pom Pom for their garland yarn (this is in the Hilma colourway). As a big fan of Pom Pom magazine I was really happy to see them continuing to release patterns, and I love both the garland pattern collections and the yarn itself. It’s soft, with a bit of a halo, comes in loads of colours, and is affordable. I’ve been using my garland leftovers to knit Christmas baubles and it’s worked really well.
I knit the cardigan in size 3 but slightly extended the body length and also the sleeves, so that they finished at my wrists rather than being bracelet length.
I’ve already worn this cardigan loads, and it pairs really well with dresses as well as trousers. If I made it again I would size up by one size, as I think my version probably has less ease than is intended (the model photos looks slouchier), but I love it and will wear it lots.
I’m currently focused on knitting a few more baubles before Christmas, but am looking forward to picking my first knitting project of 2026 very soon.
