I bought two metres of pointelle knit fabric (one metre in pink and one metre in green) from the Higgs & Higgs stand at a sewing show back in 2017, with the intention of making a polo shirt. The fabric has sat in my stash ever since, but I pulled it out recently when rationalising my fabric stash, and added it to a pile of fabric I’m (optimistically) intending to sew asap.

I originally had a different polo shirt sewing pattern in mind, but spotted a sample of the Maison Fauve Malibu Polo on display at their stand at the Stitch Festival in March and decided that it was the pattern for me.
The Malibu Polo is designed for woven fabric, not knits, but I decided to chance it and it worked out fine, although you’d obviously get a crisper result in a woven. I do think the sleeves are a little heavy in a knit fabric, so may remove them and have two sleeveless versions instead.

I made both pattern variations (short sleeve and sleeveless), both in size 38. The sleeveless version is my favourite, although it’s worth noting that the dropped shoulder means the armhole is very low and I’ve been wearing a camisole with it to avoid regularly flashing my bra.
The pattern, and the sleeveless version in particular, doesn’t use a lot of fabric, and I might make a woven fabric version soon, perhaps using one of the many small quantities of Liberty fabric also sitting in my stash.
