Pressed Flowers Kerchief

Pressed Flowers Kerchief

My final knitting project of 2024 was the Pressed Flowers Kerchief, designed by Savory Knitting for the Pom Pom and Hobbii garland yarn and pattern collection. As a big fan of PomPom magazine, I was really keen to try their new yarn, following the closure of the magazine last year.

The yarn for this project was a Christmas gift from my parents. I strongly expected to receive this yarn (it was on my wish list), so I took knitting needles with me to my mom and dad’s house on Christmas morning and started knitting this after unwrapping my presents and before Christmas dinner. I finished it just in time to pack for a start of January trip to Hamburg, where it was perfect for some extra warmth while sightseeing.

The garland (cotton and alpaca) yarn comes in 34 colours, which is an awful lot to choose from, so I kept it simple and went with one of the recommended colourways (Sylvie and Zinnia) – which pairs really well with this Hades jumper which I’ve been admiring for ages and bought with birthday money from my family this year.

The pattern knits up quickly and the flower border design keeps the knitting interesting. The yarn and finished project feels very soft, with a nice halo from the alpaca fibre.

The finished project is chunkier than the previous neckerchief I knitted so I’ve been using a large safety pin to hold it in place, rather than trying to knot the ends.
